ODSC Aanmoedigingsprijs 2013

Net als andere jaren heeft Show & Marching Music ook dit jaar de aanmoediginsprijs tijdens de Open Dutch Showcorps Championships gesponsord. De prijs is bedoeld voor het meest veelbelovende korps uit de jeugdklasse of de basisklasse. Omdat er dit jaar geen deelnemers in de basisklasse zijn werd de prijs uitgereikt aan de meest veelbelovende vereniging in de jeugdklasse. Dit jaar is de prijs, een waardebon van € 100,00, gewonnen door de jeugband van Die Tambourijnen uit Eindhoven. Bij deze willen we natuurlijk de jeugband van Die Tambourijnen van harte feliciteren met deze prijs!

New Novelty Percussion Ensemble Pieces

Show & Marching Music recently published two spectacular new novelty ensemble pieces for utensils you would not play on normally. The titles speak for themselves. The first piece from Joost Visser is called Blue Barrels and the other new piece by Dirkjan van Groningen is entitled Wheelie Bin Adventures. Click on the titles for score examples, mp3 recordings and movie clips. Very suitable as closing act for your summer evening concert!

New Music for Marching Band 2013

Recently our foreign colleagues published their new music for marching band. We’re exited to announce that Show & Marching Music is going to provide European distribution for The Devmusic Company. They have great new marching band arrangements available from among others Call Me Maybe and Scream and Shout. All publications from this US publisher will be available from stock soon. New Marimba Download

Last year we published a marimba transcription from Coldplay’s Viva La Vida arranged by Maikel van de Boomen. Now we have a new marimba download available! The piece is called Comptine d'un autre été: l'après-midi and is well know from the movie Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain. The marimba transcription has been made by Dirkjan van Groningen.

Snare Drum Basics Successful in Poland

With the help of our Polish distributor the book Snare Drum Basics has been translated in Polish last year. A couple of polish teachers, under which Mariusz Mocarski, are using this method book already with their students. In Poland it’s quit normal that all percussion students are competing frequently during regional and national individual and ensemble competitions. Last year a couple of pieces from our Snare Drum Recital book and Multi-Tom Recital book have been used for a competition for the first time.

Drum Sticks & Mallets at Percussion Books

A couple of months ago Percusison Books started selling drumsticks. The durable and friendly priced Rohema drumsticks (only € 7,95 per pair) have become an instant hit! Besides that they are also selling sticks from brands like Vic Firth and Pro-Mark for only € 9,95 per pair.

The coming months they are going to expand their stick assortment and add marimba and vibraphone mallets. They added a couple of Pro-Mark mallets to their webshop already. They are going to extend their mallet collection with among others Mike Balter, Encore, Malletech and Innovative mallets. Via this poll on Facebook you can let them know what your favourite brand is. It’s also possible to add your favourite mallet brand.

New Rudimental DVD

Recently Hudson published a new DVD, hosted by Dennis DeLucia, entitled Hand Technique & Rudiments. It contains clips of some of the world's most famous and popular drummers discussing and demonstrating various aspects of hand technique and their approach to the rudiments. A must for every (rudimental) drummer! Don’t forget to take a look at the other DVD’s in our webshop.

Great Percussion Workshops

Recently we added a couple of new percussion workshops to our workshop program. From now on it’s possible to organise workshops in the field of Electronic Percussion, Groovy Drumband/Percussion Ensemble Music and Marching Percussion/Rudimental Drumming.
